The paintings are explorations of the constantly evolving relationship between man and a sustainable environment. Conscious of a fragile, damaged landscape, I am drawn to healing the severed and broken parts, beyond my awareness. The shifting currents in the atmosphere, and the realization of a planet in fluctuating states of change, fuel a desire to seek solutions. I am focused on states of reattachment, restoration and embracing the intimate relationship between parts. I feel a sense of urgency to find new viewpoints, systems and methods to replace ones that damage or severe the web's vitality. Tying together divergent sources of inspiration -- from the luminous writings of Rufus M. Jones to the scholarly studies of Phyllis Tickle with science blogs and articles on the environment -- the paintings are ongoing dialogues on connectedness and wholeness.

The work evolves by attaching, embedding and applying layers of paint, fluid lines of color, found objects and metal fragments onto the panel's surface. It is through the movement of paint, and the reconfiguration of objects and materials, that the work begins to heal, bridge and redefine itself. The work becomes a spiritual, as well as material, exploration into the intimate nature of our presence in the landscape.
