All of my work is about the curves and grace of organic forms, and the incredible detail within each leaf, stem, and tendril.  In these paintings I continue to study the interaction of the plants as they overlap and wrap around each other, as they catch the light, and as they travel across the canvas.

When I began this body of work, I thought I had found a new plant form with which to continue my exploration of the way organic forms can be used to define space.  My intention was to do what I had done before: to remove organic objects from their natural context, to arrange them in a new environment, and to allow the forms to develop new associations. What has resulted instead are paintings that feel less about the interaction of lines and curves, and more about the sense of place that is created as the reeds frame the light within each field of color.
